Glamping and sustainable tourism become increasingly popular.

As a small-scale glamping site, Kolpa Resort faces several challenges. Mija explains: ‘Acquiring bookings in the off-season is a big challenge. We operate independently, which includes doing our own marketing, managing bookings and running the site. It’s a big adventure.’ Receiving bookings is essential for any campsite, glamping site or resort. In our blog, you’ll find more tips and tricks on how to secure those bookings.
Despite the challenges, they have created an incredible experience. ‘We offer a plethora of services and amenities, from Wi-Fi access and a bar to a locally sourced breakfast in your room, outdoor fire pits and complimentary kayaks and sups. We also have a large natural swimming pool, a vegetable and herbal garden and a playhouse for kids. To keep surprising our guests, we are always looking for new experiences; we now offer a special dinner under the stars at your own tent.’
Sustainability has become a hot topic in the travel industry and glamping offers a solution. Sustainability is also high on the agenda in Slovenia, making glamping increasingly popular. ‘Green tourism and sustainability are a big deal, which is why we chose to build a sustainable glamping resort. We placed our glamping tents and other accommodations in the surrounding area with the utmost respect and care for preserving the natural environment.’ According to Mija, this is part of their success. ‘Our location is ideal, surrounded by nature and close to the river. We provide our guests with privacy, while enjoying 360-degree views of the Gorjanci hills and valleys to the north and Karlovac to the south.’
Sustainable travel destinations are becoming increasingly popular worldwide. Some governments are even introducing regulations that only allow projects what will not harm the environment. We at YALA luxury canvas lodges offer zero-footprint glamping solutions. We create luxury glamping sites that can be built and removed without harming the natural environment. Read more about sustainable glamping on our concept development page. We would love to help you create a zero-footprint glamping site.
At Kolpa Resort, guests love glamping. ‘We welcome a variety of guests, but they have a common factor,’ Mija explains, ‘all of our guests enjoy outdoor activities, whether they are families, couples or active seniors.’ Guests book a stay in one of the glamping tents or wooden cottages that offer luxury and stunning views. ‘Our guests are always extremely impressed by the layouts, equipment and comfort of our glamping tents.’
Four of the seven glamping tents at Kolpa Resort are from YALA luxury canvas lodges. ‘We got in touch with YALA at the Rimini Fair, where we met Tom, YALA’s sales agent in Slovenia. The technical solutions were important to us. In addition, the maintenance, simplicity and quality of the canvas made us choose YALA’s glamping tents. We ended up buying two Sunshines, one Sparkle and one Glamping Lodge.’
The sales process went smoothly, the transparent communication was a big plus and everything was done and arranged as we agreed. It was a good and easy experience!
Mija Steblaj, Kolpa Resort
The main goal of Kolpa Resort is not expansion, but providing incredible glamping experiences. ‘We love seeing the happy faces and relaxed smiles of our guests after a stay at our glamping site. In the future, we would also love to organise some special events and add new activities for our guests.’
